OLD BUSINESS
Discussion on potential project for use of American Rescue Plan Local Funds – timeline to be discussed. First objective is to discuss a Resolution allocating $50,000 to each of the following entities:
- Central Berks Regional Police Department – to be applied to the construction of a pole building ($30,000) and to the purchase of a generator ($20,000).
- Lower Alsace Fire Company – to be applied to the reconstruction of the driveways used by fire vehicles accessing the firehouse.
- Lower Alsace Ambulance Association – to be applied to the purchase or rehabilitation of a new / reconstructed ambulance.
Review the status of the use and occupancy permit application for 1383 – 1385 Friedensburg Road. No current changes.
Discussion and approval of the special event permits (if received prior to meeting) and calendar of events for Antietam Cart Racing (formerly Tri County G Force Gravity Racing).
NEW BUSINESS
Review, discuss, and approve the Ordinance recognizing the Lower Alsace Fire Company as an officially recognized fire company, and authorizing the activities of the fire company, officers, and members of the fire company for the purpose defining public firefighting duties.
Review, discuss, and approve the Ordinance recognizing the Lower Alsace Ambulance Association as an officially recognized emergency medical services company, and authorizing the activities of the emergency medical services company, officers, and members of the emergency medical services company for the purpose defining public emergency medical service duties.
Review, discuss, and approve the Resolution authorizing the Traffic Signal Maintenance Agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportatio
Review, discuss, and approve the Resolution allocating funds from the American Rescue Plan Act in the amount of $150,000 total, to be paid in three allocations of $50,000 each to the Central Berks Regional Police Department, the Lower Alsace Fire Company, and the Lower Alsace Ambulance Association, for building projects and equipment purchases and/or upgrades as listed in the Resolution. The funds will be released to the organizations as the organizations enter into agreements of construction or purchase.
Review, discuss, and approve the Resolution allocating funds to the Borough of Mount Penn to offset cost overruns resulting from the remediation project.
Discussion and approval of the special event permits and calendar of events for Reading Gravity Racing.
Review, discuss, and approve the Resolution allocating funds totaling $25,000 to the Recreation Commission of Antietam Valley.
Review, discuss, and approve the Job Description for the township clerk position currently staffed by Corrie Zana. Corrie has set a retirement date of mid-June 2023, and the goal is to advertise, review all applicants, select candidates to be interviewed, and vote to present an offer of employment and hire the candidate no later than the Township Supervisors’ Meeting to be held May 11th, 2023. This will allow enough time for the candidate to be trained prior to Corrie’s retirement.
