The township road crew will collect branches and limbs from property owners who wish to participate in this collection program. Please help keep our employees and your neighborhood safe by following these regulations:
Do not place branches on the sidewalk or street where they would interfere with pedestrians or vehicle traffic. Have your branches and limbs left in full length when possible. We ask that you please place them cut side to the street.
If you use a professional tree service to take down a tree, please have them remove the tree, instead of having the township haul it away. Tree trunks and large branches are too large to be run through the township wood chipper.
Branches should be no more than 12 inches in diameter, contain no wire or rope, and must not be tied. Tree limbs and branches which can be run through a wood chipper will be collected, so be sure your branch piles contain no stumps, roots, dirt, flowers or weeds. Many shrubs cannot be run through a wood chipper due to the thickness of the branches, so the road crew will be inspecting the materials put out to see if they can be collected.
Street-side wood chipping for Lower Alsace Township residents will be scheduled, by appointment, every other Tuesday (the day after recycling pickups) from April through October. Please call the township office at 610-779–6400 by noon on the Monday before those collection dates to schedule a pick-up. Free wood chips will be made available to township residents based on the availability of the material. Thank you for your cooperation.
