LEAF COLLECTION 2022 BEGINS MONDAY!
For the Lower Alsace Township residents in Pennside, Stony Creek and Highland Avenue, please be informed that the Township’s fall leaf collection will begin October 17th and will continue until December 9th, unless a significant snowfall occurs before that date. At that time, the Township will need to remove the leaf box and install the snowplow and salt spreader to prepare for snow plowing. Remember that leaves (and only leaves) should be placed in such a manner that they will not pose a traffic hazard, but will enable the leaf vacuum to easily collect, and minimize any damage to the leaf collection equipment caused by branches, rocks, and other objects.
Those residents not located on the regular route, such as the rural and mountain areas, and are preparing a large leaf pile for collection, please call the township office to arrange for your leaves to be collected.
The storm water on your street ultimately flows into the Antietam Creek and then onto the Delaware Bay. Please do not rake your grass clippings nor any other debris into the gutters at any time. The debris will be washed into the storm drains and clog up the storm water grates, resulting in potential flooding issues. If you contract for grass cutting and lawn leaf removal with a landscaping service, please inform them of this requirement.
Leaf collection is done five days a week (weather permitting). The route for a normal five-day work week is as follows:
“Original” Pennside (Mount Penn Borough line to approximately Harvey Avenue) – Monday and Tuesday
“Carsonia Park” Pennside (Harvey Avenue to Parkview Avenue) – Wednesday and Thursday
Stony Creek and Highland Avenue – Friday
If there is inclement weather, or a holiday during the week, the missed pickup day would be pushed back a day, but the intent would be to collect the other days on the regularly scheduled days. If you have any questions on leaf collection, please feel free to call the Township at 610-779-6400.
